Jiangsu Seraphim Solar System Co. Ltd. (“Seraphim”), a world-class solar product manufacturer, recently announced the inauguration of its new PV module manufacturing factory in East London IDZ, Eastern Cape, South Africa.

This new 300 MW factory, developed as a joint venture between SeraphimILB Helios Southern Africa and Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa, utilizes the latest fully-automated production technology. The USD $14 million module assembly plant is currently in trial production, ramping up to full production in September.

«This isn’t Seraphim’s first overseas facility, but it signifies a critical milestone. Our South African initiative is symbolic of our commitment to global customers seeking reliable Tier-1 capacity to support their project pipeline,” said Polaris Li, General Manager of Seraphim. «We firmly believe in the bright future of South Africa and the entire continent.”

“Our manufacturing operation in East London has added value and momentum to downstream installations in South Africa. And, we’ve been an active part of the South African PV industry since 2014,” commented David Núñez Blundell, co-founder of Seraphim Southern Africa. “We’re excited about the capacity increase and the innovation brought to South Africa by Seraphim.”

Recently, TUV SUD issued only its third IEC CTF (Customer Testing Facilities Certificate) to Jiangsu Seraphim Solar System Co., Ltd. (“Seraphim”), a world-class solar product manufacturer well-known in the PV industry for strong R&D.

To complete CTF qualification, an organization is required to meet strict regulations on personnel structure, environmental facilities, document control, sample management, etc. Becoming a valid CTF Laboratory means Seraphim will be listed on the official website of IEC, and its testing results can be directly used in “Certification Body” (“CB”) reports issued by TUV SUD. Furthermore, Seraphim can also internally generate CB testing reports for new products or material introductions from its own laboratory, which greatly reduces the time and energy used on sample transportation—and accelerates new product releases.

“It’s a great honor to be the third IEC-qualified CTF lab. It’s the fifth world-class lab certification we’ve received after CSA, CNAS, CTC and TUV”, said Polaris Li, General Manager of Seraphim. “Seraphim understands that innovation is a vital driver, so we devote ourselves to finding the best path forward. The CTF lab qualification further acknowledges Seraphim’s strength in quality control and testing. In the meantime, the certifications offer immediate benefits to our customers.”

“We are happy to see Seraphim’s continuous progress in R&D”, commented Zhulin Zhang, Operation Director of SMN Business at TUV SUD Greater China. “CTF is an elite certification which only a few applicants acquire. This accreditation testifies to the skilled management and excellent testing capacity of Seraphim.”

June 13th 2018/Nanjing. Today, Jiangsu Seraphim Solar System Co., Ltd. Changzhou, China, Jan. 2018. — Thefirst ground-mountedsolar plant using shingled-cell modules, also known as the Zhaiheyuan Project, was successfully connected to the grid in Jiyuan, Henan Province. At 5 MW, the Zhaiheyuan Project is also the biggest solar projects using innovative shingled-cell modules, which are all made by Jiangsu Seraphim Solar System Co., Ltd. (hereafter referred to as «Seraphim»).

Developed by Henan Nuanhuang Photovoltaic, Zhaheyuan Projectnow generatesannual electricity exceeding 7 million kWh, using a total of 16,000 Seraphim 300W PolyEclipse™ modules. After the project is completed, carbon dioxide emissionswillbe reduced by 7781 tons each year.

Zhaiheyuan is a village of relocated residents from River Mouth Reservoir. On the day the project was connected to the grid, the local Secretary of JiyuanMunicipal Party committee,as well asthe Minister of Immigration, attended the commissioningceremony. Leaders from the Municipal Party Committee commented on howclosely related environmental reform is to the realization of a more beautiful China. Zhaiheyuan’s 5MWsolar plant will not only help meet local resident’s demand for electricity during peak hours, but it also symbolizesthe best in national standards and workmanship.

The Seraphim Eclipse™ high-efficiencymodule selectedforthis project iswidely recognized in the solarindustry for its innovation and value. Eclipse™’scumulative installed baseat home and abroad now surpasses120MW. After passing rigorous tests in May 2016, the Eclipse™ series has emerged as theworld’s first TUV SUD certificated high-performance module using shingled-cell technology. Compared tostandard modules, its power output is at least 15% higher. Currently, Mono Eclipse™achieves 325W output power and 19.1% solar energy conversion efficiency, while Poly Eclipse™ achieves 305W and 17.9%. PV plantsusing Eclipse™moduleswilluse8% lessland, and proportionally less labor and BOS costs.

Recently, the 1500 V monocrystalline and polycrystalline PV modules launched by Jiangsu Seraphim Solar System Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Seraphim”) successfully passed the certification by TÜV SÜD Group (hereinafter referred to as “TÜV SÜD”). With the modules following the technical development trend of the whole PV power generation system, the levelized cost of energy of the PV system further reduces and the amount of generation further improves.

The 1500 V modules are much more advantageous over conventional 1000 V PV modules. With the 1500 V modules and their supporting parts, the system cost is low, and upon increase of the DC input voltage, more modules may be connected each, making it appropriate to reduce the number of the DC cables to be connected to inverters as well as the number of combiner boxes and inverters; upon increase of the voltage, with the reduction of cable loss, the amount of electricity output increases, thus further improving the generation efficiency.

According to Executive General Manager Xi Juntao of Seraphim, “successfully passing the certification by TÜV SÜD, the modules are proved to be high-quality undoubtedly. The reliability and excellent performance of PV modules are what each customer pays attention to. The 1500 V modules developed by Seraphim apply to various large PV power plants. Seraphim expands the applicable scope of products and provides different services, thus helping customers reduce the levelized cost of energy and gain more profits. The successful development and mass production of the 1500 V modules further show our strong R&D ability. In the future, we will leverage our world-leading strengths in module manufacturing, strengthen technology research and development, dominate industrial standards and proactively boost the technical development of the PV industry.”

“Congratulate Seraphim for the fact that its PV modules which apply to the system of the maximum voltage up to 1500V successfully pass the certification by TÜV SÜD. Meeting the requirement above the general standard of the maximum system voltage of 1000 V, Seraphim’s 1500V modules are proved to be high-quality. TÜV SÜD will continue to support its innovative development.” Mr. Zhang Zhulin, Executive Director and Chief Visa Officer of the PV Business Division of TÜV SÜD, said.
